Course portfolio

Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (120 hours).  Foundation programme in English languge for academic staff at the University of Oslo who do not speak Norwegian.

Foundation programme for academic staff at the University of Oslo is build by:

  • Introductory module (120 hours)
  • One large module (30 hours) or two small modules (15 hours each)
  • Pedagogical development work at your own department/faculty (50 hours)

Introductory module

4 full days + ½ day, the two first days with overnight stay at hotel.
Mandatory module

 

Large elective modules

Research Supervision
2 full days + 1/2 day
The aim of this course is to provide participants with insight into varied cultures of research supervision that exist at the University and inspire them to develop their own supervision further.

Assessment and Feedback
2 full days ½ day
In this module, we focus on the ways we can make use of assessment and feedback in our course designs to support students in their learning and in achieving the intended learning outcomes of the course.

Teaching Critical Reflection to Engage Students
2 full days + ½ day
This course is designed to provide academic staff with practice using different tools and approaches to engage students to reflect critically on their learning

Writing to Learn (Part 2)
2 gatherings of 5 hours

Course design for student engagement
Two full days and one half day 
This course is intended to provide academic staff with knowledge and opportunities to practice designing their courses, seminars or lab work in ways that engage students and stimulates participation

Small elective modules

Lecturing and Teaching
Join ½-day session + video workshop
This module will emphasize the dramaturgical elements in lecturing through practical training.

Writing to Learn (Part 1)
2 gatherings of 4 hours
The main focus of this module is writing in learning processes.

Courage to Teach
5 weekly gatherings of 1½ hour each
This module is for teachers with long or short teaching experience, who sometimes (or often) experience that a teaching session did not turn out well, or they are unsure about how it went.

Teaching Portfolios at Uio
2 gatherings of  5½  hours
This workshop introduces participants to the guidelines for promotion. We will focus exclusively on how to develop and document teaching portfolios

Teaching for public good
Participation in the one day conference “Leading Higher Education As and For Public Good”
This course provides an opportunity to reflect on your teaching/leading in higher education to promote and further public good

Locally embedded academic development project (50 hours)

One 3-hour kick-off T and One 2-hour closing session.
Locally embedded academic development project is an opportunity for participants to engage in practical development activities in the unit (program/department/faculty) they are affiliated to.
This course run parallell in  Norwegian and English.
