Wanna play the guitar for science?

Do you play the electric guitar? Participate in a research project at RITMO! Gift cards worth NOK 200,- for all participants.

About the project

RITMO PhD fellows Qichao Lan and Çağrı Erdem are very interested in how people play on electric guitars. How do you use your muscles when playing the guitar?

We are now looking for participants to answer this question, and develop a machine learning model that can mimic how you and other guitarists play.

Here are some details about our study:

  • You should be a healthy adult, with some skills on the electric guitar. You will be asked to play a free improvisation, as well as do some simple tasks.
  • While performing you will wear muscle sensors on your forearms, and a jacket with reflective markers on for motion capture. This is completely harmless. We will also record audio and video.
  • Finally, we will ask you to complete a simple questionnaire about your musical background.
  • All data will be anonymized and protected by NSD (Norwegian Centre for Research Data).
  • If you want, you can get an animation video of yourself from the lab.
  • We would like to offer you a gift card of NOK 200,- as a compensation for your time. This can be used at many stores (see presentkort.no for more information).

Please register here.

See you in the lab!
