Current project

My PhD project is a part of the research project The neural basis of temporal prediction. My aim is to understand the neural mechanisms underlying temporal prediction and perception of rhythm. I am studying these mechanisms by combining EEG and behavioural experiments.

The ability of temporal prediction optimises perception and goal-directed behaviour, and rhythms and regularities are important predictive cues in our surroundings. Neural oscillations in the brain entrain to rhythms in the environment, and I am interested in a better understanding of the predictive role of this mechanism.

In my ongoing project, I am studying the role of regularity in order to find out whether there are shared or separate neural mechanisms underlying prediction based on periodic and aperiodic rhythms.
