Engagement and Absorption
This research group explores aspects of rhythm and temporality in musical engagement such as listening and performing. The research angles are various and include musical sense-making and ethics, absorption in musical performance, and spatiality and immersion. Methodologies are drawn from music studies, philosophy, 4E cognition, music technology, and music psychology. Work in this research group unveils how different modes of engagement and absorption are core facets of musical experience and can lead to novel insights into human perception and action.
