Forskningsprosjekt

Jeg forsker i dette projektet på forståelsen av melodisk konturer i forhold med kroppsbevegelse. Samspillet mellom kroppslige responser til rytmiske musik er bedre forstått i sammenheng med entrainment, synkronisering, og timing. Men ifølge tonehøyden har de vært flere diverse modeller som ble foreslått for å forklare legemlig /embodied karakter av begrep 'pitch' som følger retninger opp og ned. I dette prosjektet, vi tar melodiske konturer som utgangspunktet og analyserer kroppslige / gestural responser til melodiske stimuli. Prosjektet inkluderer forskning på teoretiske regler for velformet melodier fra mange musikalske kulturer. Prosjektet skal utvikle metoder for data-analysering av motion capture data for 'sound tracings'.

Bakgrunn

Jeg har mastergrad i informatikk fra det International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) i Hyderabad, India. Jeg har studerte nord indisk musikk i 20 år og jeg har bachelorgrad i Hindustani vokalsk musikk. Jeg holder bachelorgrad i mekanisk / industriell ingeniørfag i 2010 og studerte vestlig klassisk komposisjon deretter, og holder nivå 4 diplom i vestlig musikkteori og komposisjon fra Trinity College of Music, London. Deretter ble jeg interessert i musikkforskning, og tok mastergrad (ved forskning) i IIIT Hyderabad som forskningsassistent i det Cognitive Science Lab. I 2014 ble jeg en del av Virtual Labs-prosjektet finansiert av departementet for menneskelig ressursutvikling (Government of India) på IIIT. Jeg utviklet et virtuelt laboratorium for å lære indisk musikk (music.virtual-labs.ac.in). Jeg har jobbet her i Oslo siden mai 2016.
