The exam will cover the lecture notes up to Chapter 22.214.171.124 ("solar corona in the visible" is the last section) plus SSA and SSB. You may bring a calculator to the exam. Slides of the lecture on SSB can be found here.
Compulsory exercise 2: Stellar Spectra. B: LTE line formation. IDL procedures and data files can be found here (links in ssb.pdf are outdated). Deadline for handing in the report: Friday Nov. 23, 2018 (note that the original deadline has moved to a week later). The midterm exam will cover Chapters 1-5 in Rutten, problems Chapters 1-5, and the numerical exercise SSA (Monday 24 Sep we will discuss SSA during the lecture, pdf of the slides can be found here).
