Course content

Selected topics of pharmacology and pharmacodynamics are teached. Among these are deepening basic pharmacology, drugs of current interest, and research areas where there are resent discoveries and/or a rapid development.

Learning outcome

To update the students with the latest pharmacological research and development of important areas.

Admission to the course

The course is primarily open to students who have been admitted to the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Oslo. If there is space available then others may also apply to take the course as long as their academic background is adequate.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

The course is only available to students who have passed their pharmacy apprenticeship and have passed all previous pharmacy courses of the 5-year masterprogramme in pharmacy or have the equivalent academic background.

Self-tuition/study groups. Background lectures in the different topics.

Access to teaching

A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity. The course can be canceled if the number of students enrolled is low.

Examination

A four hour written exam/oral exam after the number of students.

Withdrawal from an examination

It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt. It will also be counted as one of the three attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses:

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system
