There will be no group session tomorrow, I have a final exam in another course tomorrow and won't be able to hold the last group session.
Therefore I wish you all good luck on the final exam and ofc.
Merry X-mas and a happy new year :)
From Friday afternoon (29/11) until Saturday a wrong curriculum list was published at the course page.
A correct list was published on Saturday at 10:30, and it is marked "30/11 2013" in the upper right corner.
In the Exam for 2012 there were explicit references to an algorithm discussed in the textbook, assuming that everybody could look it up. In the exam for 2013 we will fomulate the questions so that we avoid such direct references to the textbook. However, the parts of the book that is included in the curriculum list must be read and understood.
There will not be a group session tomorrow, thursday 28. November 2013. There are stil some of your mandatories that I have not gone through yet and therefore I'll be working late tonight to get it done and I have no time to prepare something for the session tomorrow.
I hope you understand.
1. You can bring any written or printed material (including the textbook) to the exam.
2. At the exam you can write the answers in Norwegian or in English, exactly as you want.
I have not recieved any emails with questions that you would like to have discussed during this weeks group session.
Therefore I have decided that I should take the time to go through the remaining mandatory deliveries.
On a side note, I have read all of your emails regarding the mandatories but have been unable to respond properly and for that I'm truly sorry.
I will have all of the mandatory assignments completed by the end of this week, all of you that did not do all the work will get a new deadline to submit the rest of your assignmnet.
If you have any questions, please send me an email and I will do my best to respond promptly.
You can now fetch mandatory assigmnet 3 at the Course page
If you want a 2nd. perspective on decidability, you could have a look @ these foils:
The first version did not work well. This is hopfully better.
You will here find a Java program that will generate solvable boards of any size. See top of program for instructions.
I've decided to try something new with the grup sessions.
If you have any questions regarding the solutions that are provided for the exercises send me an email explaining what question you don't understand the solution for and what you find hard about it, and i will have a look @ it and go through that solution on the next group session.
I need some time to prepare for the session so I need the question no later than thuesday the same week or I won't have the time to prepare.
There will be no group session today due to illness.
I'm sorry for the inconvience.
There is a forthcoming Nordic programming contest, where UiO is a participating site, which you may find interesting to participate in. Developing clever algorithms and solutions are always on topic here. You can compete in teams of 1 to 3 people. Remember to register before Oct 3.
Practice/warmup round: Oct 3. 17:15 to 19:15, in Assembler, IFI2
The actual competition: Oct 5. from 10:30, in Limbo and Assembler, IFI2

I have recieved a few e-mails this week regarding the mandatory assignment, so today we will be focusing on this rather than the weekly exercises in our group session.
Mandatory assignment 1 (Oblig 1) now appears at the main course page, to the right.
Exercises for next week, and a bit of reading material, can be found here (Timeplan/Undervisningsplan).
The lectures for the whole semster are moved to Sem.room C (OJD 3437)
NB: Om å skaffe læreboka: …
NB: Om å skaffe læreboka: Vi skal bruke samme læreboka som i fjor, altså:
Algorithms: Sequential, Parallel, and Distributed by Jerome Paul and Kenneth A. Berman.Men merk, den må være fra okt. 2004 (copyrigt 2005).
