Proxy Computer Requirements

The VSA proxy machine must be one of the following types of machines:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 x64 Editions (Standard, DataCenter, and Core)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 x64 Editions (Standard, DataCenter, and Core)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 Editions (Standard, DataCenter, and Core)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 x64 Editions (Standard, DataCenter, and Core)
  • For Linux proxy support, use one of the following options:

Server trenger

  • 4 vCPU
  • 16 GB RAM

Configuring Transport Modes for VMware

By default, the software automatically determines the transport mode currently being used in your environment prior to each backup operation. This process can be eliminated by configuring the subclient to use a specific transport mode for all backups of that subclient. Doing so negates the need for the software to search your environment for the appropriate mode, thereby increasing backup performance.

Steps in VMWare backuo

HotAdd Deployments

  • When deploying the Virtual Server Agent for HotAdd Mode backups, choose the datastore with the largest VMFS block size to ensure backups can mount and back up virtual machines residing on all datastores.
  • On the server hosting the Virtual Server Agent, ensure that automount has been disabled to disable automatic drive letter assignment:

    diskpart> automount disable

  • Scrub automount settings to ensure that previous drive letter assignments and other volume mount settings are cleared:

    diskpart> automount scrub

SCSI Controllers: HotAdd relies on the SCSI protocol. With VDDK 6.5 or later, VMware recommends the paravirtual SCSI (PVSCSI) controller. (For more information, see Virtual Disk Development Kit Release Notes.) For older VDDK versions, use the LSI SCSI controller. HotAdd does not support IDE disks.

Tilpasninger:

  • installer nyeste versjon av VMware Tools
  • installer scsi controllere
Ingen paravirtual controller!
  • installer VMware PowerCLI (for å kunne bruke tags fra vCenter i Commvault-filtre)

Review Network TCP Port Requirements

The physical nodes that host the cluster server must have the same port numbers configured. For example, if you have a cluster server VS1 and three physical computers configured to host VS1, then the three physical computers must have the same network TCP port numbers configured on the network interface used by VS1.
