Civil engineer Eilif Holte has built up the company Holte Consulting, specializing in project and team management, as well as quality assurance of projects. He is known for quality assurance and advisory work on several large public construction projects. Holte has also actively participated in the debate on the proper use of public resources in construction matters.

Since 2008, Holte has collaborated close with the University of Oslo. First as chairman of the Museum of Cultural History, and later as an advisor to the university in connection with the construction of the new Viking Museum in Bygdøy.

The new building for the museum will have an important scientific infrastructure ensuring the proper management of the country's premier cultural heritage – the famous Viking Age ship burials. Holte has been strongly involved in efforts to secure funds to fulfill the museum's ambitions for the public. Holte's contributions have laid the foundation for the new museum in Bygdøy to offer a world-class exhibition that ensures public access to cultural historical knowledge and the country's most important collection from the Viking Age.
