Language

The Summer School will be taught in English. 

Scholarship

The Summer School is free of charge and comes with a grant. The rates follow the Erasmus+ guidelines, and will be paid out by the sending institution. The grant is composed of an amount for subsistence (70 EUR per day) for up to max. 7 days (duration of the school plus two days for travel) i.e. max. 490 EUR in total and a travel grant which will be calculated according to distance Erasmus+ Distance Calculator.

Please contact the mobility office at your university for information regarding scholarship. 

Requirements   

The formal requirements for participation is a completed Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS, enrolment in a Master's programme at a Circle U. university, your CV and a BA grade average equivalent to a C on the Norwegian grade scale.

We do not use conversion tables for foreign grades. All foreign education is individually evaluated during the admission process.

Please note that eligible applicants who fulfill the minimum grade requirement will compete with other applicants. Applicants will be ranked and admitted based on GPA, motivation letter (max. one page), and CV. The summer course has 6 study places for each university in the Circle U. alliance.

In case of more than 6 eligible applicants, all applicants will be pooled together and chosen at random to ensure that all eligible candidates have an equal opportunity to participate.

You must be a Master's student at one of the universities in Circle U.:

  • Aarhus University
  • Humboldt Universität in Berlin
  • King's College London
  • UCLouvain
  • Università di Pisa
  • University of Oslo
  • University of Belgrade
  • Université Paris Cité
  • Universität Wien

Documentation requirement   

All your documents must be issued in English.

You must submit all documents before the application deadline. If you fail to do so your application will not be considered.  

All documents must be uploaded to the application portal if we do not specifically ask for documents sent directly from the issuing institution.  

You need to upload:   

  • Confirmation from your university that you are a student enrolled in a Master’s program at one of the Circle U. universities.

  • Your diploma and transcript of records from your bachelor’s degree. The transcript must be accompanied by an official English translation (if not already in English). Your name must be clearly visible on both your diploma and your transcript.

  • Documentation of name change must be uploaded if your name appears different in any of your documentation.

  • Letter of motivation: A letter of motivation is where you elaborate on your interest in the course, with reference to previous experiences from work and/or studies. The letter should be no more than one page.  

  • CV/Resume

Guidelines for uploading documents 

Make sure your scans are easy to read 

You can scan your documents using a phone camera or a scanner. Please make sure that the documents: 

  • All documents are in English

  • Include all text on the front and reverse side

  • Are merged or scanned into a single file if the document consists of several pages

  • Appear ‘right-side up’.

PDF is the preferred format

To make sure we can easily open your documents, please use PDF format. Do not upload ZIP, RAR or other compressed files as these cannot be opened in our document viewer. 

Be prepared

Please have all attachments available when you start the application process. When you send your application, it is not possible to go back and make changes. You will receive a receipt when we receive your application.  

Handling of application

A committee from the University of Oslo elect the students, based on transcript of records, motivation letter, and CV. There are maximum 6 study places for each university in the Circle U. Alliance. The applicants receive an information letter in April/May by way of the e-mail they listed in their application.
