The international gathering brought together educators, researchers, academic leaders, and professional staff working to develop and strengthen interdisciplinary education in higher education.
Throughout a week of lectures, masterclasses, workshops, and peer exchange, we explored how universities can support and sustain interdisciplinary education in practice. Topics ranged from the design and organization of interdisciplinary programmes to the supervision of interdisciplinary PhD projects, the assessment of interdisciplinary work, and institutional structures that can facilitate collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.
A central focus of the Autumn School was how universities can create conditions that enable different disciplinary traditions to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborate on complex societal challenges. We also worked on our own development projects and had the opportunity to discuss challenges, approaches, and solutions with colleagues from a range of institutions and countries.
For INTED, participation provided valuable insights into international perspectives on interdisciplinary education and generated new ideas for how the University of Oslo can further strengthen interdisciplinary learning, collaboration, and educational development.
