INTED – Centre for Interdisciplinary Education and the Honours Programme welcomed staff, students, and partners to the official opening of their new premises on the ground floor of the Kristine Bonnevie Building. The event marked an important milestone and celebrated a shared space for interdisciplinarity and collaboration.

The programme opened with a speech by INTED Director Anders Malthe-Sørenssen, who highlighted the importance of having a physical meeting place for interdisciplinary initiatives and educational development. He was followed by Kirian Ask Hayashi Helgeby, Chair of HONning, the student association of the Honours Programme. Kirian emphasized the value of community, engagement, and a “neutral” space where students from different academic backgrounds can come together and collaborate.

The audience also heard from Knut Mørken, Vice-Dean for Education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, who reflected on the importance of creating arenas that foster curiosity and bring people together across established disciplinary boundaries.

The official opening was accompanied by a musical performance from Bjørneblæs, which provided a festive and memorable backdrop to the celebration.

Following the formal programme, guests had the opportunity to explore the new premises, meet colleagues and students, and celebrate the opening together.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the occasion and look forward to filling the new space with activity, collaboration, and new interdisciplinary initiatives in the years to come.
