Workshop on dialogue

On 22 May, INTED hosted a workshop on the use of dialogue, led by Mina Haaheim.

Mina is one of INTED’s student leaders and is currently studying philosophy. Through her engagement with INTED, she has also completed training with Dialogpilotene, a program that equips participants with tools and techniques for facilitating constructive conversations in situations of disagreement. In this workshop, she introduced methods and practical exercises from this work, giving participants an opportunity to explore how dialogue can be used to foster understanding and productive discussion across differing perspectives.

Dialogue as a Tool for Better Collaboration

The workshop was based on what is often referred to as a dialogue workshop, a structured form of conversation in which participants are invited to explore different perspectives together. Through a series of practical exercises, participants had the opportunity to practice active listening, articulate their own viewpoints, and engage with the perspectives of others.

A central aim of dialogue-based work is to create space for disagreement and tension, and to view these not as obstacles but as valuable resources for learning and collaboration. In a dialogue workshop, participants are encouraged to challenge both themselves and one another within a safe environment that emphasizes curiosity, trust, and mutual respect. As a method, dialogue can foster greater understanding across different viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds.

Through the workshop, participants gained both insight into and hands-on experience with how these dialogue-based tools can be used to support meaningful conversations and effective collaboration.
