Leave of absence

Compassionate leave

Permission to take leave on social or compassionate grounds with or without salary is stipulated in the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service but is conditional on the employer’s discretionary assessment in each case.

Educational leave

Employees are entitled to unpaid educational leave of a maximum of three years, provided that they have worked for at least three years and have worked for the same employer for the last two years.

Family care leave

Family care leave is primarily granted in connection with the care for minors. Leave for nursing mothers is part of family care leave. More demanding care situations may also entitle to attendance-  and training allowance.

Parental leave

When you are expecting a child through birth or adoption, send a notice to the parental leave team who will invite you and your manager to a meeting and follow you up until you're back at work.

Research and educational leave

All permanent employees in academic positions can on application be granted one year’s research and educational leave after six years of service, or six months’ leave after three years of service.
