As illustrated in the figure above, co-publication with US institutions occured in a wide range of fields. Most notably, nearly 30 % of the co-authorships were in Medicine. Other important areas of co-publication were Physics and Astronomy (15 %), Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology (13 %), and Earth and Planetary Sciences (7 %). Fields such as Social Sciences and Psychology that normally do not figure in this kind of statistics, amounted to 5 % of the total.
