The Convergence Environment project CH-CYCLE adopts a multifaceted approach to this challenge, by combining studies on technology development, sustainability and European climate related policy.
CH-CYCLE glues together a cross-disciplinary team through three intertwined work packages:
WP1 - Process intensification by single-reactor conversion of CO2/H2 via (m)ethanol to olefins: This work package focuses on the synthesis and evaluation of different catalysts for the single-reactor conversion of CO₂ and H₂ to olefins. The performance of the catalysts will be assessed and compared at the laboratory scale, considering parameters such as CO₂ conversion rates and product selectivity.
WP2 - Sustainability investigation of materials and processes: This work package investigates the sustainability of selected materials and processes across the three dimensions of sustainability, encompassing environmental, social, and economic aspects. The assessment will be conducted using environmental life cycle assessment (LCA), social life cycle assessment (S-LCA), and life cycle costing (LCC).
WP3 - CCU in context of European climate related policy: This work package investigates the broader implications of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) within the context of European climate policy, considering the interactions between technological developments, sustainability aspects, and relevant policy frameworks.
