What is VPN and what is it used for?
- VPN is a technology used to establish secure encrypted connections over the Internet.
- At UiO, VPN is built into the system on UiO-managed Windows PCs. If you have a Mac, iPad, another tablet, or similar device, you may need to install a VPN for specialized tasks. Few people actually need to use a VPN.
- If you must install a VPN at UiO, use eduVPN. See the guide further down the page.
Start using VPN
If you have a UiO-managed Windows PC, VPN is built in and you do not need to install anything.
If you have a machine or device that is not a UiO-managed Windows PC, you can install eduVPN (see the guide further down the page).
