We will take a ferry to Hovedøya, which is the island closest to the city centre. On the island there are two beaches and a big field for playing outdoor games.

Hovedøya is also great for hiking. Parts of the island is a nature reserve, and flowers, trees, animals etc. are protected. Additionally, the island is a place of a lot of cultural heritage, and you can visit the ruins of a Cistercian monastery from 1147.

Visiting the islands in the Oslo Fjord is a popular activity among the citizens of Oslo to enjoy swimming and a different environment just minutes away from the city centre. It is possible to go island hopping with the ferries. This day we will stay at Hovedøya, but we can provide some information and suggestions for other islands you may visit. Each of the islands has its own character and history worth exploring.

When: 10:45 (be there on time)
