Why choose this programme option?

The Master's Degree in Sanskrit is a continuation and specialization for students who have 80 credits of Sanskrit in their B.A., and is intended to impart a deeper insight into India's classical language, literature and culture.

Language study is strongly emphasized in this course of study, and even if a student wishes to specialize in Old or Middle Indic literature, or another aspect of pre-modern Indian culture, good language skills are required.

The course of study has in addition a cross-disciplinary aspect, in that it is possible to take courses from the entire university, plus other educational institutions in Norway or abroad, and combine them with the master's courses in Sanskrit, depending on the topic of the master's thesis.
