If you come from a Health Sciences background, this programme option builds on your clinical insight and gives you the technological tools to turn it into innovation.
You learn programming and fundamental concepts in machine learning, robotics and human–machine interaction through a dedicated bridging course.
Throughout the programme, you work together with students that have a background within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on real clinical problems. You learn how to translate patient needs and workflows into technology requirements, design studies and evaluate new solutions in a healthcare setting.
Study environment
As a Health Sciences student you become part of an interdisciplinary environment where your clinical perspective is essential.
You work side by side with STEM students, clinicians, researchers and industry partners on concrete innovation projects.
You learn to navigate both the clinical and technological cultures, and you have access to dedicated workspaces and prototyping facilities at the Department of Technology Systems, as well as to observational sessions at partner hospitals.
You are also part of the wider University of Oslo community, with opportunities to join student associations and participate in academic and social events.
