Semester abroad

A semester abroad is an excellent opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in your field of study, a professional network, and increased intercultural competence.

There are exchange possibilities for students on the ICTL programme, the exchange has to be conducted at one of our partner institutions in order to guarantee credit transfer.

Where can I go abroad?

In the initial phase the study abroad programme is limited to one partner institution, Bond University, but we seek to extend the study abroad/exchange possibilities in the future.

When can I go on exchange?

The exchange/study abroad period has to be conducted during your second semester (spring semester).

Courses and approval

Do note that not all institutions have the same course structure as the University of Oslo. This means that you often have to take more than three courses per semester in order to achieve the equivalent of 30 ECTS credits.

In order to obtain full credit transfer (maximum 30 ECTS) you are required to study four subjects in the Master of Laws (LLM) degree at the Faculty of Law, Bond University.

Two compulsory subjects:

  • Individual Study Project (the project must have an Information and Communication Technology law focus)
  • E Commerce Law

Two elective subjects from the following:

  • Common Law and Legal Skills
  • Global Intellectual Property Law
  • Dispute Resolution: Theories and Principles
  • Advanced Legal Reasoning, Research and Writing

Possibilities for retake exam at Bond University

In the event that a student receives a final grade of Fail for one subject only, that is that the student passes three subjects, then the Faculty of Law, Bond University, is required to offer the student a supplementary assessment that does not require the student’s return to the campus of Bond University. The supplementary assessment will represent 100% of the marks for the subject.

How do you apply?

Please note that the application deadline for exchange/study abroad commencing spring semester is 15 September. Please contact the Information Centre at the Faculty of Law if you wish to find out more about taking part of your LLM degree abroad.
