Noor Fatima
- Study programme: Informatics: Programming and Systems Architecture
- Home country: Pakistan
Salaam! My name is Noor, and I’m originally from Lahore, Pakistan, and grew up between Lahore and Abu Dhabi, UAE. I came to Norway in November 2025 to do my master’s in Programming and System Architecture at UiO, and have somehow ended up completely in love with this country; the nature, the people, the work-life balance… don’t get me started! In my free time, you’ll find me hiking, painting, travelling. I still remember how overwhelming it felt to be a brand-new international student here, so if you have any questions or just want to talk to someone who gets it, just let me know!
Sihyeon Jung
- Study programme: Health Economics, Policy and Management
- Home country: South Korea
Hello! My name is Sihyeon and I come from Busan in South Korea. I am currently studying my master's in health economics, policy and management. I am really enjoying learning about the different healthcare systems and the economic tools used in decision making. I speak Korean, English, and just completed my Norwegian B2 level exam. I love climbing, going on hikes and making new friends. I work part time at a bakery and have just completed a wonderful internship. I hope you enjoy the student life in Oslo as much as I have and hope to see many of you soon!
Amar Khatri
- Study programme: Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management
- Home country: Nepal
Yo! My name is Amar. I come from the land of Himalayas, Nepal. I have been in Norway since the fall of 2022 where I came to do study molecular biology at NTNU, Trondheim. As you can see, I am a student again (what can I say I love being broke) now doing a really fun masters in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management. I have experience working in cleaning, hospitality, data analytics and innovation internships alongside my studies as part-time roles. I have a lot of interests such as chess, tennis, music, and filming. I have been through the valley of darkness in the early years in Norway and came out alive and thriving. Hit me up if you have any questions regarding student life here at the University of Oslo.
Ricardo Leonardo Serrano Latorre
- Study programme: Development, Environment and Cultural Change
- Home country: Colombia
¡Hola! My name is Ricardo, and I’m from Colombia. I have a background in Political Science and Government and Public Affairs, and my previous work in research, land redistribution, and humanitarian organizations led me to one of the master’s programs with the longest names at UiO: Development, Environment and Cultural Change. I moved to Oslo in 2025 and have loved the city ever since. If I ever go missing, you’ll probably find me in a library or enjoying a drink somewhere. Fun fact: I believe bad jokes and sarcasm are underrated (and it is definitely not just because I use both far too often).
Rebecca Jeanne Pedersen
- Study programme: Education and Social Change: Childhood and Youth Studies
- Home country: USA
Hei hei, my name is Rebecca! I am from the US, but moved to Oslo with my partner, two dachshunds, and cat in 2025. My background is in language learning and education, I speak English, Norwegian, French, Spanish, and a bit of Russian, and have taught English as a foreign language across four countries. I love living in Oslo and spend most of my free time exploring the city and its forests with my partner and dogs. I also love knitting, weightlifting, and meeting new people – and I look forward to meeting you on campus!
Pauline Zeiler
- Study programme: Peace, Conflict, and Democracy
- Home country: Germany
Hei, I’m Pauline and I’m from Germany! I moved to Oslo in 2025 and am now in my second year of a Master’s in Peace, Conflict, and Democracy. When I’m not at Uni, you can usually find me sipping a mocha in a café, strolling through an art museum, at the cinema, or trying out a new sports class with SiO. I’ve also recently picked up knitting and love to read. I’ve gathered plenty of experience moving to new countries, so I’m excited to help new students navigate all the challenges of moving abroad. Whether you need tips on how to romanticise Norwegian winters or some general advice, feel free to reach out!
