Hiking in Nordmarka

Nordmarka is a favorite escape for many of Oslo's inhabitants. These public areas in the forest are ideal for hiking, swimming, camping and overnight stays in a cabin.

Where: We will start at Sognsvann and walk for about 1.5 hours to UllevÄlseter, have a 30 minutes lunch break and then take the 1.5 hours walk back to Sognsvann.

Meeting place: We meet at Sognsvann t-bane platform at 12.00. To get there take the metro line (t-bane) number 5 from Majorstuen metro station. Remember that Ruter has temporarily closed some metro stations on line 4 and 5, so you need to take the bus 5B. More info on Ruter travel info .
 
Bring along:
  • Solid shoes (preferably hiking boots; if not available, solid jogging shoes),
  • Rain gear if the weather looks bad,
  • Swimming outfit and a towel if it is warm and sunny (but be aware that the water might be cold),
  • Picnic food including something to drink. Snacks are available for purchase at the cafĂ©.
