MusicLab Sinsenfist

Join us for a free evening show by Sinsenfist and a science experiment to capture how performers and audiences build live music concerts.

Performers and participating audience members will be wearing sensors that measure movement and physiological changes, while specialised cameras record crowd behaviour and performer interactions.

Longtime fans of Sinsenfist and newcomers to the group are invited to register for the show and sign up to wear sensors that measure physiological responses (Equivital eq LifeMonitor or Movesense Cardiac Belt). Participation is voluntary, and RITMO researchers will handle all collected data. Those who preregister for sensor recording will get a personalised visualisation of their measurements from the show.

After the main performance, a short panel discussion between the performers and researchers will be followed by a “data jockeying” session where audience members can get a glimpse of the recorded data.

About Sinsenfist

Sinsenfist is a colourful crew from different corners of our elongated country, united at the true gateway to the all‑consuming hustle and bustle of the "Tiger City": Sinsen! Here, in the nation’s number one destination for newcomers, an almost entirely new genre has emerged at the crossroads of gangsta rap and the Norwegian folk-song tradition.

With the albums Fra Sinsenterrassen, Mount Fistmore, and Gangsta Norvegicum under their belt, and cult bangers such as “Finni mæ sjæl” and “Ring 3” woven into their singles catalogue, Sinsenfist has built a solid fan base in the capital. In 2023, the band celebrated its ten-year anniversary with the EP Sommeren for ti år sia.

The first single from the upcoming album Sinsen fjernvarme is expected in connection with MusicLab: Sinsenfist. RITMO’s own “resident gangsta scholar,” Kjell Andreas Oddekalv, PhD, is the band’s MC and guitarist.

About MusicLab

MusicLab is an innovation project at RITMO and the University Library. It aims to explore new methods for research, research dissemination, and teaching. The project is organised around a concert in a public space, which also serves as the object of study. The events also include an edutainment element through panel discussions with leading researchers and artists, as well as “data jockeying” in the form of live analysis of collected data.
