Special needs

Students with a disability or dyslexia who have special needs should contact Tilretteleggingstjenesten (the Accessibility Services) at Knutepunktet in Lucy Smith's building.

You may need assistance with your studies and special examination arrangements. Remember to bring valid documentation confirming your special needs.

We can help you with:

  • Study guidance for students with dyslexia
  • Loan of published CD books
  • Guidance for students with hearing impairment (however, hearing aids and equipment should be brought along)
  • Adaptation of workplaces in reading rooms
  • Reservation of seats in lecture halls
  • Mobility guidance
  • Loan of technical aids (i.e. chairs, special desks, some laptops are also available). Documentation necessary.

Please inform your faculty about your special needs as early as possible. Each faculty has a contact person responsible for students with special needs.

Wheelchair users

The University of Oslo is not the easiest place to maneuver around, however, most buildings are accessible. It should be remembered that there is snow and ice during the winter and this should be considered before applying to study here.

Health Care Center

The University of Oslo has a Health Care Center on campus, with a team of doctors as well as psychologists and psychiatrists. Long term mental health treatment is however not available.
