REGISTRATION FOR SEMINAR WITH danah boyd 16 OCT

Registration for the ITU seminar on Social web and Learning 16 Oct from 10:00 is open and working . This replaces the regular course seminar.

CHANGE IN SEMINARS

9 October all students will have the opportunity to discuss the term paper with the professor you are assigned for the completion of it. Knut Lundby's students meet 10.15-11. Birgit Hertzberg Kaare's students meet 11.15-12. Room 208. Please send in your revised outline to your assigned professor before Wednesday 8 Oct at 12.00. The supervision in the seminar 9 October is the last in a larger group. You will have the opportunity to one more supervision, either individually or in a small group.

16 October all interested students join the open seminar on social networking sites with danah boyd and others. Contact Birgit Hertzberg Kaare

READING MATERIAL TO BE BOUGHT

You buy the Compendium for the course at Kopiutsalget in the bookstore Akademika on campus. In the bookstore section for Media and Communication you will find Gauntlett's book on Creative Explorations and the book on Digital Storytelling, Mediatized Stories edited by Knut Lundby. This book is shipped directly from the printer in the US to Akademika and is not yet available from other outlets.

BOOK ON STORYTELLING TO BE ORDERED ONLINE

Please get hold of Joe Lambert's book on Digital Storytelling. Capturing Lives, Creating Community (2nd ed, 2006) as early as possible. You have to order directly from Center for Digital Storytelling in California. It does not cost more than USD 30 + freight. The book will not be available at Akademika

Please see the link to "Lectures, seminars and readings week by week" to the left. Please observe that there is a lecture on Tuesday and a seminar on Thursday the same week (except week 39 when there is no teaching).

SEMINARS AND LECTURES - A WHOLE

Students on this course are strongly advised to follow the seminars as well as the lectures, as they make an integrated whole. Birgit Hertzberg Kaare and Knut Lundby are doing the seminars as well. The seminars will help you make the exam, that is a term paper to be produced throughout the course. There will be guest speakers in seminars and lectures; participating researchers in the Mediatized Stories research project.

KEY BOOK ON MEDIATIZED STORIES

This course takes you close to an ongoing international research project. Key literature for this year's course has actually been produced in this research during the last year. The book on the reading list, Digital Storytelling, Mediatized Stories: Self-represenations in New Media will be published right before the course starts. We will make arrangements to make to book available on time.
