Course content
Important topics in plasma astrophysics and cosmic physics.
Learning outcome
The course gives a theoretical background to master and Ph.D. theses in plasma astrophysics.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Bachelor degree of the Fysikk, astronomi og meteorologi (bachelor) (continued) programme or comparable.
Recommended previous knowledge
Bachelor degree of the Fysikk, astronomi og meteorologi (bachelor) (continued) programme, specially AST3130 – Gas dynamics (discontinued). FYS4620 – An Introduction to Plasma Physics may also be useful.
Overlapping courses
10 credits AST309.
Teaching
2 hours of lectures/tutorials each week.
Examination
A final oral examination. Compulsory home exercises may be given. Letter grades.
Evaluation
The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.

The course is given if 3 or more students sign up.
