Course content
This course gives students the opportunity to work as an intern in high-tech start-up companies. Students will work in different environments and experience different levels of stress to achieve realistic understanding of the work involved in start-up companies. The Centre for Entrepreneurship is cooperating with Oslo Innovation Center in finding start-up companies that will benefit both the student and the company. Your CV will be of importance as it is the basis for the search for companies.
Learning outcome
During the three months internship programme, students will acquire knowledge about business practices and entrepreneurial thinking, and gain first-hand start-up experience. The students will learn that it is possible to start a business from an idea and understand different challenges start-up companies are facing. The students will also gain insights into daily routines in a start-up company regarding market research, getting funding and other issues.
Admission
Enrolment in the master's degree programme Innovation and Entrepreneurship is required. Students not attending “Gründerskolen” at the master’s degree programme will have to follow ENT4220.

Teaching
The main part of the course consists of being an intern in a high-tech startup company. Full time attendance is required in the relevant business organization, with the benefits of Easter holiday and other public holidays.
The students will meet regularly (app. every second week) with a lecturer to discuss their internships, challenges and get help with writing their internship reports. Furthermore, the students are required to prepare the assigned material on strategic management issues for each session. The required readings will be discussed in class in order to reflect on practical experiences and examples related to their internships, thus, linking theory and practice.
The sessions are mandatory for all students.
The internship period is from March to June.
Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
Submission of an internship report, and participation in the mandatory class meetings.
It is Pass / Fail evaluation.
The students have to follow the standard rules for sickness when working in the company. When the student has more than 20% absence without medical declaration they will fail to pass the subject.
