Why is my document not printing?

Checklist if your document is not printed

Check this first:

  • UiO-owned, UiO-operated computer: Your printer settings should be OK, but if you have problems printing, please check that the right printer is selected: select the printer with a name ending in pull.uio.no (Windows) or PaperCut (Mac) in the dialog box when you print.
  • Student/private equipment: Print from PC/Mac or iOS/Android.

You must swipe your card against the card reader on the printer to get your printout

Find the card reader on the printer, and place your student card/employee card against it. This should open for printing. Follow the instructions on the printer's screen. This is what the card reader looks like.

Check if there is something wrong with the printer

Is the printer turned on? Is it jammed with paper somewhere? Is it empty of paper? If something is wrong, you can contact IT Help.

Do you have a new card?

If you have a new student or empoyee card and and your document is not printed, try to register the card again. This you can do in the self-service portal for printing.

Check your printer quota

Do you have more prints on your quota? Go to utskrift.uio.no and check your quota or buy more prints.

Is the document very large?

If the document you are trying to print is very large, it may take time before it is printed. Be patient.

Still no printout?

Contact IT Help

There are many printers at UiO. Unfortunately, there is no central overview of where they are. If you need to find a specific printer, send an e-mail to IT help and we will help you.
