Migration of personal researcher storage

The personal researcher storage (Astra) will be moved to a new system, as the current is soon the be end-of-life. In this occassion, there will be a brief period of downtime according to the migration.

How does  this affect you with astra storage?

The new storage will have better performance, but the capacity will retain 1 TB max.
To make sure all data is transfered, there will downtime during the final synchronization of the astra storage. Downtime is planned between:
Friday September 9th 2022 at 16:00 --> Monday September 12th at 10:00

Finally, paths used for accessing the storage will be updated according to the name of the new server, hypatia. Detailed below.

New paths

Connecting via file explorer (Windows)

See guide for mounting astra storage.
This still applies, but where you used to write:

\\astra\astra-01\

You must now include the new server's name, hypatia:

\\hypatia.uio.no\astra\astra-01\

Visually it will look like this when accessing the storage post-migration:

skjermbildet over lagringshotell mappen

Connecting with Mac (ethernet only)

This guide still applies, but with new path. The storage is accessed by opening "Finder" and pressing CMD + K to open the server dialogue, where the path is input.

Former path:

smb://astra/astra-01/username

New path:

smb://hypatia.uio.no/astra/astra-01/username

Or astra-02 if you used this previously.
Again, these paths will only work for Macs which have an UiO ethernet connection.

Connecting with Linux / SFTP

Both linux clients and SFTP services (Webdrive, Cyberduck) can mount the astra storage via login.uio.no, as described in this guide.
The procedure remains the same (via login), but with new paths.

Former path:

/net/astra/astra-01/username

New path:

/net/hypatia/uio/fs01/astra/astra-01/username

Or astra-02 if you used this previously.
