Elective courses

It is possible to apply for recognition of 20 credits taken in other subjects when these can be seen as relevant for the candidate’s subject area for the dissertation. This form (in Norwegian)  must be filled out and sent to the student advisor if you wish to do so. Examples of subjects that could be of relevance:

Master's thesis and courses preparing the student for thesis work

Option 1:

Option 2:

Option 3:

  • Parallel Master’s degree with Zhejiang University (60 credits)

Option 4:

In either case, the thesis is to be an individual research work. The subject of the thesis may be chosen from a wide range of topics associated with Chinese society and politics and is chosen in cooperation with the supervisor. The thesis is normally written in English, alternatively in a Scandinavian language. Sources in Chinese should constitute at least 1/5 of the source material used.

Students should begin to reflect on a topic for their master thesis from day 1. In all four semesters (except if abroad), participation in monthly seminars for the writing of project descriptions and theses is obligatory. All students are given a provisional advisor at the beginning of the 1st semester and a permanent advisor at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
