Learning outcomes

Knowledge achievements

Within the study area Robotics and Intelligent Systems, you learn to make self-learning/adaptive control systems for robots/intelligent systems. Using techniques drawn from nature such as, for example, artificial evolution or artificial neural network, create specific hardware and software that receive a simple form of artificial intelligence. Robotics and Intelligent Systems provides a comprehensive background in both software and hardware to work with the future of robotics and adaptive systems.
Through courses you are able to get or extend your skills in programming and hardware design including VHDL/FPGA. Further, courses provide knowledge in music technology and human-computer interaction. The master project would be connected to one of our ongoing research projects including design of active music systems, run-time reconfigurable hardware and rapid-prototyping of robots based on 3D-printing technology. You will get access to our advanced labs with state-of-the-art motion-capture equipment and 3D-printer technology.

Skills

You are acquiring in-depth experience with software and/or hardware programming tools which are much applied in industry. The program is practically oriented and you get the opportunity to create your own circuit board and construct robots/systems in plastic using CAD tools/3D-printer. As a student at the Robotics and Intelligent Systems, you will have the opportunity to work in specific projects to the Norwegian industry, and the opportunity to start your own business after/during the study.

General competence

This study program will maintain and develop scientific curiosity and convey respect for scientific values such as openness, precision, reliability and the importance of distinguishing between knowledge and opinions. You should at the close of the study be able to reflect on the central, ethical, philosophical and scientific issues in relation to your own and others' work.
