Presentation of guest scholars from China, Vietnam and Indonesia

This Autumn, a number of guest scholars visits the NCHR. Quite a few of these are affiliated with one of the NCHR International Programmes: They will be presented in a lunch we hope will be attended by many NCHR colleagues.Here is the list: 

Nghiem T.K. Hoa (Vietnam programme)

Ms. Nghiem T.K.Hoa is an independent researcher on rights-based development. Her work focuses on ESCR and human rights education. She has written a book on the introduction of the ICESCR, and works with development agencies in Vietnam on rights-based programming. During her stay at NCHR, Hoa will conduct research on the application of indicators in human rights monitoring and reporting.

Muktiono (Indonesia Programme)

Mr. Muktiono as a law lecturer from the Brawijaya University in Malang. While in Oslo he will conduct research on management on religious conflict by regional governments in Indonesia.

Sun Meng (China Programme)

Ms. Sun is an associate professor at the Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at China University of Political Science and Law where she is engaged in both teaching and research on human rights. Some of her most recent publications have been on women’s rights, enforcement of  international law, justiciability of ESC rights and the right to health. During her stay at NCHR she will conduct research on China in the UN with special focus on the monitoring system.

Yang Songcai (China Programme)

Mr. Yang is a professor and the executive director of the Research Centre for Human Rights at Guangzhou University. He is an experienced human rights scholar in China and is known for his contribution to human rights education and training in South China. During his stay at NCHR he will conduct research on the UN “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework for business and human rights and its domestic implementation.

Prof. Pan Jiao (China Autonomy Programme)

Prof. Pan Jiao is the director of Institute of Anthropology, professor at the Department of Ethnology of the Central University of Nationalities. He has dedicated on extensive researches on minorities and minority areas over 20 years with the publication of 6 books and over 20 articles as the focal point of his great academic achievements. His researches focus on ethnicity and nationalism; ethno-politics in southwest China; development and cultural survival of Chinese minorities.

Dr.Wang Qiliang (China Autonomy Programme)

Dr.Wang Qiliang is a professor and the vice dean of the Law School, Yunnan University, post doctor at the Research Center of China’s Rural Governance, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research fields are mainly on Legal Culture, Ethnic Issues and Law. He has been published more than 40 articles in various academic magazines in China and abroad. His publications include Step Forward to the Law Embodied in Society and Culture, Studies on Legal Issues in Economic and Social Development of Yao Nationality in China (co-author) and Legal Anthropology: A Chinese Textbook (co-author). 

Dr. Shen Shouwen (China Autonomy Programme)

Dr. Shen Shouwen is an Associate Professor at the Law School, Yunnan University. Editor of the Jorunal of Yunan University (Law Edition), guest professor at the Central University of Nationalities. His researches focus on the constitutional law (including Regional National Autonomy), legislative science and public health Law. He has published more than 30 articles, 9 books as the author, co-author or co-editor.

Ms. Hou Chenghui and Ms. Zhao Mei (China Autonomy Programme)

The master students at the Law School, Yunnan University, are the exchange students of the CAP in the autumn semester 2013. Ms. Hou Chenghui’s research interest is on the International Law. Ms. Zhao Mei’s research interest is on the ethnic law.
