Marieke van Otterdijk

Academic interests
I'm Marieke van Otterdijk and I'm a PhD Research Fellow specializing in User-testing, Social Robotics, and the development of Robot Interactions and Expressive Robot Behavior through User-Centered Design using a Mixed-Method Research Approach. I develop social robot interaction for clinical and non-clinical use.
Background
I'm interested in how humans use their intuition to interact with robots and how we as developers can use this perspective to create more fluent robot interactions. I have a background in Applied Psychology (BSc) and Industrial Design (MSc). I use this background to establish a deeper understanding of the user's behavior through quantitative and qualitative research methods and translate that into design principles for developers.
Partners
A collaboration partner is the social robotics lab from the University of Technology Eindhoven.
