Course content

This course focuses upon texts containing technical terminology as well as fictional texts. Students will learn to make oral contributions in various proffesional contexts and to participate actively in discussions.

This is a skills course with a final oral examination.

Learning outcome

Students will be able to understand and describe structure and content in oral presentations using technical terminology. Students will also make their own individual contributions in their respective subject areas and participate actively in professional/specialised discussions.

Final marks will show the extent to which students have benefited from this course.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

Students must be eligible for matriculation (except the Norwegian language requirement) and must have passed NORINT0130BK or equivalent with the grade D or better on both the oral and written exam. Persons who have attended Norwegian language courses outside the UiO have to take a placement test (at UiO).

Teaching

This is a 30-hour course.

The course is reserved exclusively for students who have been accepted into the course.

Attention! 75% attendance required for this course.

Access to teaching

A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.

You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. If you would prefer to have the exam text in English, you may apply to the course administrators.
