OBS! Chapter 2 and 7 in Scandinavian Maritime Law

Due to a mistake chapter 2 and 7 in the book Scandinavian Maritime Law - The Norwegian perspective has been left out of the list of mandatory reading for this course. Notice that those two chapters are mandatory reading for the exam.

Question hour!

An information meeting on auxiliary materials and other practical issues regarding exams will be held Thursday November 10th 9:15-11:00 in Auditorium 4, DA. During the second half of the meeting student advisors will be present to answer questions from students individually. The auxiliary material regulations are available here

Revision of mid-term paper Wednesday 2 November

Case Collection in Maritime Law

A case collection with approx 13 cases, translated from Norwegian to English has been reprinted. It can be purchased at the Petroleum Law Department in Domus Media. The price will be approx 70 NOK, you can't use cash but will receieve an invoice.

The compendium is not mandatory reading and it is NOT allowed to bring it for the exam (not auxiliary material), but it can be useful for international students when studying for the exam. It is an old case-collection and not up-dated according to the latest edition of Scandinavian Maritime Law book from 2011.

The case collection will be available at The Petroleum Law Department until 14 October. After that it can be purchased at the online bookstore Audiatur.

Extra whole day seminar in Bill of Lading 31 October!

There will be held an open whole day in Bill of Lading Monday 31 October.

Re-take of cancelled lectures

The two cancelled lectures will be held 4 and 5 october at 14.15-16.

Place: Theologisk Eksamnenssal (the same as the other lectures)

Deadline to hand in mid-term paper is postponed to 10 October!

Due to that two of the lectures in Maritime Law has been cancelled, the deadline to hand in the mid-term paper is postponed one week to Monday 10 October.

The paper will be returned Monday 24 October in Fronter.

OBS! Lecture on Thursday 22 September also cancelled!

You lecturer is unfortuantely still ill. He said he will definetively be back on Monday 26 September. We will come back to you with dates and times for the re-take of the two lost lectures.

Mid-term paper

The mid-term assignment is now available in Fronter. Deadline to hand it in is 3 october. It is voluntarily to hand in the paper, but it is a good exercises in preparing for the exam. The paper will be corrected by the research assistants at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime law.

Orientation about the 4hour exam

An introductory course in answering exam questions will be held by Prof. Ola Mestad September 23, 12:15-14:00, Aud 4, DA. A booklet with examples of previous exam papers will be distributed at the meeting. All examination papers, a mix of papers given in Norwegian and English, are also available at http://www.jus.uio.no/studier/eksamen/tidligere-eksamen/master/

Lecture Friday 16 Sept is cancelled

Due to illness the lecture on Friday 16 September at 10.15-12 is cancelled. Information about when it will be re-scheduled will be up-dated later.

Compendium in Offshore Charter Parties

The compendium in Offshore Charter parties is delayed, but it will be ready on Thursday 22 September.

OBS! It will be possible to buy the compendium at the Petroleum Law Department in Domus Media (building with columns), 2 floor, first door to your right until the end of September. The student at the reception desk will help you. You will be given an invoice. You can't buy the compendium using cash.

From 1 October the compendium has to be bought from the online bookstore Audiatur

PS! If you are registered for exam on JUR1401 you don't have to buy this compendium. Offshore charter parties is not a part of the syllabus for JUR1401

Change of date and time for lecture

Please notice that the lecture scheduled on 19 September 14.15-16 is moved to Friday 16 September 10.15-12.

Semester start at NIFS

Tuesday 30 August we celebrate the start of the semester at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law.

All students who are taking the course in Maritime Law: Contracts autumn 2011 are invited to the Institute’s Petroleum department in Domus Media, east wing, 1st floor at 15.30 for pizza, and something to drink. This is a nice chance to meet other students and the Institute’s researchers, professors and other personnel.
