JUTCOMM – International Commercial Law
Course content
Note: This course will be given a new code from spring semester 2006, and you will find all relevant information JUR5230
The aim of the course is to illustrate the main legal aspects of international commercial transactions. To achieve this aim the course will, firstly, provide a general introduction presenting the legal sources that are relevant to international commercial transactions (international conventions, harmonised laws, lex mercatoria, as well private international law).
Secondly, the course will follow an hypothetical transaction through all phases, from its formation, through its performance and to the phase of disputes resolution. The most salient feature of commercial transcations will be highlighted, such as, during the phase of negotiations: letters of intent, financing; during the phase of performance, legal constraints (antitrust regulations, currency laws, etc.); during the phase of disputes resolution: national jurisdiction, commercial arbitration.
Students are expected to take an active part in the course since a part of the course will be dedicated to case studies and simulations.

Withdrawal from an examination
It is possible to take this exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.
