Kursbeskrivelse/ Course description:
Faget dreier seg i hovedsak om fremgangsmåter for å tallfeste sammenhenger mellom variable som inngår i økonomiske teorier og undersøke hypoteser om slike sammenhenger empirisk. Kurset innholder dels presentasjon og diskusjon av modeller og metoder for analyse av samvariasjon mellom variable, dels anvendelser av metodene på konkrete problemstillinger og data. Regresjonsanalyse inntar en sentral plass i undervisning og øvelser. Begrepsapparatet fra statistikk benyttes i kurset, og kurset bygger på kurset: Innføring i statistisk metodelære og modellering.
The course presents and discusses methods for analysing simple econometric models. Regression theory has a central place in the lectures as well as in the seminars, and the various techniques are illustrated by using relevant empirical data. Standard statistical terminology are used troughout the course, and the course builds on the course Statistics 1.
