Arabia Minor: The Arrival of the Bible to the Arabic Language in 19th Century Lebanon

About the project

This project relates the consequences of the arrival of the bible into the Arabic language in the 19th Century. My hypothesis is that the bible translation contributed to the secularization of Arab society and the modernization of the Arabic language. This thesis would primary use philological methods ans literary theory but would also draw on perspectives and insights from the social sciences and political theory.
