Regulations at the University of Oslo

As a student at UiO, you have rights and obligations, and it is important that you familiarize yourself with these.

Where do I find the regulations?

In UiO's regulations you will find a selection of the rules that apply for admission, studies and examinations at UiO. The regulations handbook contains both acts of parliament, regulations and other documents which apply to the whole institution. It may also be laid down special rules for some faculties and programmes.

Programme descriptions and course descriptions describe the structure and implementation of study programmes and courses. Here you may find, for example, rules on compulsory elements, on required previous knowledge and on degree requirements.

The Service Declaration shows you as a student what UiO is obligated to do in order to provide a beneficial environment for studies, as well as what UiO expects from you in your role as a student.

The IT-regulations contains rules that ensure legal and safe use of IT-services at the university. You must familiarize yourself with the IT-regulations before you use IT-services at UiO.

Remember to check your e-mail!

All students will receive an e-mail account at UiO. The university uses this e-mail address for sending out information. It is therefore important that you regularly check the e-mail address you have received by the university.
