In accordance with UiO's annual plan for 2020-2021, the University Board decided that a comprehensive climate and environmental strategy for UiO should be developed. The strategy will bridge the gap between Strategy 2030 and concrete action plans and UiO's annual greenhouse gas accounts.
The group that has worked on the proposed new strategy is led by Vebjørn Bakken, director of UiO:Energi, and consists of Beate Sjåfjell (JUS), Brita Slettemark (Klimahuset, NHM), Dag Hessen (MN), Elin Lerum Boasson (Sv), Erik Knain (UV), Per Ditlef Fredriksen (HF), Sidsel Roalkvam (SUM), Benedikte Marie Espeland (University Board, Student Parliament), Jørgen Hammer Skogan (University Board, Student Parliament), Eva Helene Mjelde (University Director's Staff) and Anne-Line Sandåker (p.t. UiO:Energi).
The working group submitted its proposal for a new and comprehensive climate and environmental strategy for UiO in June 2021. The strategy/proposal apply to all aspects of UiO's activities, from education and research to operations, dissemination and other outward-looking activities. Furthermore, it is evidence-based, and builds on a broad understanding of the environment with planetary boundaries as its premise.
The strategy will facilitate knowledge development and dialogue across subjects and sectors, gather and integrate various climate and environmental activities at the university, and contain concrete goals and measures to contribute to making climate and the environment an integral part of UiO's education and research.
