Documentation requirements for Ethiopia

Important about documentation:

  • Upload documents preferably in PDF or JPG format at the online application system (Søknadsweb) within the application deadline.
  • When uploading documents, you acknowledge that the University of Oslo may contact the issuing institution for verification.
  • Submission of fraudulent documents is illegal, and will be reported to the proper authorities and may lead to dismissal and loss of right to study. Your are liable for uploading true and unaltered documents.
  • If admitted, you must bring your original documents with you as you might be asked to present the documents to the University. Failure to submit documents on request will lead to dismissal.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Required education:

One of the following qualifications meets the education requirements:

2021 and later:

  • Secondary School Leaving Examination (SSLE) + 1 year of university education.

or

  • Ethiopian Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESSLCE) + 1 year of university education.

2013–2020:

  • Ethiopian University Entrance Examination Certificate (EUEEC) + 1 year university education.

2011-2012:

  • University Entrance Examination Certificate (UEEC) + 1 year university education.

2004–2010:

  • Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Qualification Certificate (EHEEQC) + 1 year university education.

2003:

2003: Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Certificate Examination (EHEECE) + 1 year university education.

Up until and including 2002:

  • Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE) + 1 year university education.

or

  • Ethiopian Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLC)+ 1 year university education.

PLEASE NOTE:

SSLE/ ESSLCE/ EUEEC/ UEEC/ EHEEQC/ EHEECE must be passed with at least 4 subjects. ESLC/ ESLCE must be passed with at least 5 subjects, including English and Maths.

Documentation of English language proficiency

Applicants who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Ethiopia with English as the language of instruction are exempted. English as the language of instruction must be documented.

Please see English language proficiency required for studies at bachelor's level. Upload your documentation and name the pdf or jpg file by the test name like IELTS or TOEFL or other test names. If not covered with a test, just call the file English.

Documentation of name change

Upload officially certified documentation of name change if name appears different in any document. Name the pdf or jpg file namechange.

ESLC/ ESLCE must be passed with at least 5 subjects, including English and Maths

Upload a scanned copy of the original Diplomas and transcripts of records.Transcripts of grades must be included.

Name the pdf or jpg file secondaryHSC.

Documents stamped "Student copies" are not accepted.

Please note: If you graduated in 2020 and did not take final exams due to COVID-19, please upload a letter explaining that as the reason for any final grades/exams missing from your transcript(s).

In addition, you must upload a scanned copy of your transcript(s). Name your pdf or jpg file(s) universitymarks.

We do not accept temporary certificates older than 5 years. We do not accept student copies. Only transcripts that are sent directly to the International Education Office will be considered.

Any attempt to obtain admission with fraudulent documents is illegal and will be reported to the proper authorities.
