Structure and cognition

How are rhythm and our sense of time constructed in the human mind?

About the research

The goal is to expand our understanding of how rhythm and our sense of time are constructed in the human mind. We study the influence of rhythm and time on perception, attention and effort, imagery and illusions, prediction and cognitive control processes across sensory modalities.

Method

Utilizing a broad range of methods, including pupillometry, MRI, scalp- and Intracranial EEG, we can reveal the effects of rhythmic and temporal features as well as the neurocognitive mechanisms involved. Our experiments involve healthy participants, but we also focus on special populations, like musicians, synaesthetes, and neurological patients with focal brain damage.
