MEK4930 – Graduate research in Mechanics

Course content

The research topic can be from all areas of mechanics.

Learning outcome

The student gets an introduction to the chosen research topic and must become familiar to relevant literature, carry out a short project and report his or her findings. This course may not be taken as a part of a Master's degree in connection to the Department of Mathematics, UiO, and is usually only open for exchange students.

Admission

To get an admission to this course it is required to

1) Be an incoming exchange student on one of our existing exchange agreements

2) Find a member of the academic staff of the Department of Mathematics who will be willing to act as your supervisor during your semester at UiO

3) Contact the student administration at studieinfo@math.uio.no to complete the registration.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.

Teaching

The duration of the course is one semester. The study is based on individual work and supervised by one or more supervisors (internal/external).

Examination

The grade is based on an oral presentation held at the end of the semester.

Language of examination

Subjects taught in English will only offer the exam paper in English.

You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.
