Syllabus/achievement requirements

Course literature:

The course is based on the book by Aalen, Borgan & Gjessing (2008): Event History Analysis: A Process Point of View, Springer, New York. The book is available as an e-book if you are working on a computer at the University of Oslo (or some other university that allows access to Springer ebooks). A web-page of the book containing corrections, data sets and more, is given here.

Reading list
The course will be based on the following parts of the text book:

Chapter 1: All

Chapter 3: Introduction to the chapter, Section 3.1 (except 3.1.4 and 3.1.6), Section 3.2 (except 3.2.5 and 3.2.6), Section 3.3 (except 3.3.5), and Section 3.4 (except 3.4.4 and 3.4.5).

Chapter 4: Introduction to the chapter, Section 4.1 (except 4.1.3, 4.1.5, and 4.1.6), Section 4.2 (only pages 154-164), and Section 4.3 (only pages 190-199, and except technical details).

Chapter 6: Introduction to the chapter, Section 6.1 and Section 6.2 (only 6.2.1 and 6.2.2).

Chapter 7: Introduction to the chapter, Section 7.1 and Section 7.2 (except technical details).

In addition comes some material on penalized Cox regression and case-cohort studies.

In order to prepare for the course, it is recommended to study the mentioned material in chapters 1 and 3 before the start of the course.
