Housing

New students can apply for student housing through the student welfare organisation SiO.

International students on UiOs housing priority list

Different rules apply to different student groups.

Application deadline

  • 1 June for students starting their studies in the autumn semester.
  • 1 November for students starting their studies in the spring semester.

Application procedure

In order to be prioritised housing you must follow our guidelines:

Temporary housing in August

SiO will offer temporary dormitory from 6 August to 1 September. Further details about booking of temporary dormitory will be available by late July. If you have any questions about this housing option, please contact SiO housing.

Students without housing priority

  • Students admitted through Samordna opptak (SO)
  • Students residing in Norway applying by 15 April
  • Nordic citizens applying by 15 April
  • Student attending NORA-courses

No housing priority? You may still apply

These groups unfortunately, do not have a housing priority.

You are welcome to apply for housing, but we can't guarantee you a housing offer before the semester start. Please note that UiO only helps with information about housing priority. It is SiO that organises the housing accommodations in the Oslo area.

We recommend that you

  • apply early - you may apply before your admission has been approved
  • accept the housing offer even if it is not your first choice - the demand for student housing is high
