Innovation and your teaching

We welcome all scientific staff to this module to explore how you might innovate – in the broad sense – in your teaching, whether you have been teaching for decades, or you have never taught.

Why choose this module?

This module offers you time and resources to undertake a project on what inspires you to teach, and challenges you. Based on these, you will formulate plans for how, when, and why you will make innovations in your teaching. The module leaders and your peers will suggest resources and concrete teaching practices for you to consider, while supporting you to keep the spark of inspiration alive.

In this module, you have the opportunity to

  • Situate your plans for changing or developing your teaching in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) criteria
  • Develop habits of innovation in your teaching
  • Put into words what inspires you about teaching you have done or observed
  • Articulate challenges you have experienced in your teaching or concerns you have if you have never taught
  • Experiment with different forms of reflective practices
