IBS2102 – Henrik Ibsen’s oeuvre in the perspective of its reception history
Timeplan, pensum og eksamensdato
Kort om emnet
Ibsen’s oeuvre has a literary, theatrical and media reception history. This course gives a presentation of the reception history of two of Ibsen’s most popular dramas, including their stage history, critical reception, and adaptations to other media and art forms.
Additionally, Ibsen’s literary influence is studied in works by representative literary authors. The aim of this course is to demonstrate the capacity for influence and renewal in Ibsen’s plays through processes of reception and adaptation, and to explore their status as “classics” in the Norwegian and world literary canons.
Hva lærer du?
To provide insight into Ibsen’s reception and adaptation history, in literature, on the stage and in new media, with a focus on different performance traditions.
