FYS9630 – Transport of radiation in the atmosphere
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
An introduction to the theory of radiation transport in multiple scattering, absorbing and emitting atmospheres. General solutions of the radiation transport equation. Two-stream approximations and discrete ordinate method. Applications on problems from the earth's atmosphere. Introduction to the use of a modern radiation model.
To get a basic introduction to the theory of scattering, absorption and emission of electromagnetic radiation in atmospheres, and an introduction to an existing radiation transport model with applications on for example the analysis of data from the UV, visible and IR area.
PhD candidates from the University of Oslo should apply for classes and register for examinations through Studentweb.
If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.
